Agency wants families to know about it
This year, nearly one out of four of qualified lower-income families in the U.S. will not claim a tax credit worth up to $4,536.
Internal Revenue Service officials say an estimated 20 to 25 percent of working families that need the credit the most don't even know they qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the federal government's largest benefit program for working families.
